Cordstrap has the expertise to safely and securely ship cargo by rail, whether by open-topped car, closed car or in intermodal containers. A gold associate member of the Association of American Railroad (AAR), Cordstrap is also a member of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRR) and has helped Canadian shippers load to Railway Association of Canada (RAC) procedures.
With a deep understanding of the rules and regulations that limit set outs and load adjustments, Cordstrap has partnered with the AAR and shippers on impact and over the road tests to evolve new and approved rail shipping methods – and also been involved in developing new loading procedures at the Transportation Technology Center (TTC) in Pueblo, CO.
Cordstrap rail experts ensure each cargo shipment meets the AAR rules, taking account of the AAR’s open top loading regulations (OTLR) and GIS diagrams. For all opentop loading figures, Cordstrap Cordlash 200 can replace 2” metal banding, while Cordlash 150 can replace 1-1/4” steel banding as a 1:1 ratio.
Some of the commodities approved to use Cordstrap include chemicals, metal products, forest products minerals and pulp and paper.
